Abstract
The World System theory given by Immanuel Wallerstein is as old as half a century yet it is still relevant and most probably will remain relevant in the upcoming times too. This particular theory in a nutshell not only tells us about how the world system works but it also tells us how the society runs. The dependency theorist had already mentioned that the world is divided into core and periphery, it was Wallerstein who pointed out a third category in this system i.e. of ‘semi-periphery’ This article in brief mentions the three-tier system of world order given by Immanuel Wallerstein what are its characteristics, and how semi-periphery works as both the exploited and the exploiter category.
